Commenting on the GLS, Scunthorpe MP Nic Dakin said, 'Thanks for this. It was an excellent event. I was really proud that the Baptist Church in Scunthorpe supported by faith communities wide and far were putting on an excellent event. There was a real sense of purpose. Speaking to delegates they were very positive about the experience. Well done to everyone in the Baptist Church team'.
Since 1995 The Willow Creek Association (WCA) has been running its Global Leadership Summit (GLS) and by 2010 it was held in 350 cities in more than 50 countries, challenging more than 120,000 leaders from 10,000+ churches.
We are privileged to say that, due our on-going relationship with WCA, we hosted this prestigious event at Scunthorpe Baptist Church on 4-5 November 2011.
The GLS is a trusted, high-calibre event that’s designed to transform business and church leaders with an annual injection of vision, skill development and inspiration. This proved to be the case in our experience as over 100 regional leaders from commerce, industry and churches joined us for the event. Scunthorpe MP Nic Dakin was able to attend part of the Friday sessions.
They experienced world-class teaching via video from main event that was held in Chicago earlier in the year. The event was lead by SBC Lead Pastor Rich Webb with a great time of worship provided by the band from Mattersey Hall Bible College. In addition to the teaching and worship, it proved to be a great opportunity for networking but above all it was a time for fun.
WHO CAN LEADERS LEARN FROM?
By design, the Summit faculty is hand-picked to be strategically diverse. These are leaders whose worldviews, political bent, and religious perspectives may differ greatly from your own. Yet, each has a leadership story filled with hard-earned truths born in the trenches of experience.
It begs the question, “Who can you learn from?” Some leaders seek to merely reinforce their own existing worldviews, insulating themselves against contrarian points of
view. Will you muster the courage to move beyond your comfort zone? Stretch your leadership bandwidth and allow God to grow you in ways you never imagined.
Together with your leadership team:
• Explore cutting-edge leadership principles from some of the world's foremost leadership experts and communicators
• Enjoy live worship that will refresh you and draw you close to God
• Engage with leadership issues, including vision casting, motivating others, self-management, team building, managing volunteers, problem solving, decision making, and much more
This two day event will challenge and inspire you with practical and transferable principles for leaders at every level, including:
• Senior pastors and staff (paid and volunteer)
• Elders and board members
• Business and community leaders
• Students and emerging leaders
• Anyone with untapped leadership potential
Resources from the 2011 event can be purchased on-line from Willow Creek.
